Toyota pulls back the curtain on the 2019 RAV4 at New York Auto Show

Official release date and performance information for the 2019 Toyota RAV4

Toyota took the stage at the New York International Auto show to announce the official release date and performance information for the 2019 Toyota RAV4. The Toyota crossover SUV is now the best-selling new vehicle in the automaker’s lineup and is the most popular model in the entire automotive industry that isn’t a pickup truck. Given the changes and upgrades Toyota has implemented for the 2019 RAV4, they aren’t going to want to keep potential buyers waiting too long for it to arrive at dealerships like Colonial Toyota. It will likely be one of the first 2019 models to be delivered and should be showing up in our inventory later this year, in the late summer or early fall.

What did Toyota change with the 2019 RAV4?

In looking at the materials Toyota has released about the changes it made to its most popular vehicle, a few things become very clear. First, they wanted to make the 2019 RAV4 more family friendly. This was accomplished by expanding the length and width of the unibody superstructure, which has resulted in a more comfortable environment. Next, the manufacturer wanted to update the available technology that will be equipped with each available trim grade. All versions of the 2019 Toyota RAV4 will be equipped with the Entune 3.0 infotainment and will be compatible with Apple CarPlay applications as well as the Amazon Alexa smart speaker.

Performance specs

The 2019 Toyota RAV4 will continue to provide owners with a strong balance between performance and fuel economy. Engineers from Toyota have provided the 2019 RAV4 with an upgraded version of its tried-and-true 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. However, for the new model year, it will make more horsepower and be attached to a new eight-speed automatic transmission. Exact figures for how much of an improvement will be seen haven’t been released by the automaker yet. But the consensus around the Colonial Toyota Blog offices is that the 2019 RAV4 will likely come very close to the 200-horsepower barrier, if not breaking it.

New Technology

Since all trims of the 2019 Toyota RAV4 are outfitted with the automaker’s Entune 3.0 infotainment, that means all trims will also offer owners the ability to have a mobile, high-speed Wi-Fi hotspot. Toyota has partnered with Verizon to make sure that those who use the 4G LTE internet connection will always have coverage on the go. Additionally, up to five enabled devices can be connected.
