Performance Specs and Features for the 2020 Toyota Tacoma
The Toyota Tacoma is one of the most popular platforms the automaker produces. When the manufacturer released the performance specs and features for the 2020 Toyota Tacoma, the team of product experts working in the Colonial Toyota showroom got very excited to get this information out into the world as quickly as possible. Toyota isn’t redesigning the Tacoma for 2020, that doesn’t mean that the best-selling midsize pickup truck for the last 13 years isn’t getting several important upgrades. Our best guess is that the 2020 Tacoma will arrive in two months or so, if not sooner. Let’s take a look at what Toyota has done to keep the 2020 Tacoma at the top of a very competitive segment in the automotive industry.
Engine equipment information
Just like the versions that have come before, the 2020 Tacoma can be equipped with one of two engines for the new model year. The base powertrain is comprised of a naturally aspirated 2.7-liter, four-cylinder engine that will be attached to a six-speed automatic transmission. Rear- and four-wheel-drive versions are available. Owners choosing the standard powertrain will be able to expect it to produce 159 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque.
Future buyers looking to max out the truck’s potential can choose the 3.5-liter, V-6 Atkinson Cycle engine that also uses a six-speed automatic gear-changer. The move to the larger engine will push the performance output of the Tacoma to 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is equipped on the TRD Off-Road and TRD Pro.
New Standard Technology
There are also a few new pieces of technology that will be available across the entire trim ladder of the 2020 Toyota Tacoma. When the new truck arrives at the Colonial Toyota showroom, all trims will feature an upgraded infotainment system that is controlled via a large touchscreen interface. Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® join Amazon Alexa to allow owners to integrate outside digital devices into the truck’s capabilities. Finally, all models of the 2020 Tacoma coming to town will feature the Toyota Safety Sense-P system as standard equipment.
