Toyota could be adding another Corolla variant to the roster

Will the Toyota Corolla Cross come to Colonial Toyota?

Toyota has one of the most comprehensive lineups of crossover SUVs in the global automotive industry. Models like the RAV4 and Highlander are at, or near, the top of many ‘best of’ lists. However, the automaker is not done setting the bar in this very competitive segment. Our manufacturing partner appears to be on the cusp of introducing something new to the roster. It will reportedly bear a familiar name and offer buyers another option in the compact crossover SUV class. So, will the Toyota Corolla Cross come to Colonial Toyota? As of right this second, that is unclear. Nothing we’ve found will definitively confirm or deny the allegation. However, aAutoBlog post from July 9, written by Jonathon Ramsey seems to think it’s more than just likely.

What is the Corolla Cross?

Should the Toyota Corolla Cross arrive at American dealerships like Colonial Toyota, it won’t be the first SUV-like vehicle to bear the Corolla name. Ramsey’s article points out that the automaker produced the Corolla All-Trac from 1988 until 1992. However, it wasn’t a crossover SUV as we understand the platform in today’s terms. Toyota has released the Corolla Cross in Thailand and the manufacturer’s global media site has given us a brief glimpse of what we can expect to see should the Corolla Cross arrive in Milford.

Toyota Corolla Cross Vital Statistics

According to the information released on the Toyota Global Media Site, the automaker could offer an eventual Corolla Cross with a gas engine or hybrid powertrain. The gas version will make about 140 horsepower with the hybrid version also producing very competitive performance scores. Fuel economy estimates are not available at this time.

On the inside, we know that owners will have a little more than 17 cubic-feet of cargo volume behind the rear seat when people are using it. It seems almost guaranteed that the rear seat will be able to be folded down to open up even more space.

When it comes to connectivity technology, there is no good reason to think that a future Toyota Corolla Cross will get the works including Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, Amazon Alexa-compatibility and a Wi-Fi hotspot. However, these are only educated guesses.
