The 2020 Toyota Highlander also has a pretty different performance profile than its 2019 model. For the new model year, the 2020 Highlander will be exclusively powered by a 3.5-liter, V-6 engine attached to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It will make 295 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque. Only the 2020 Highlander Hybrid will feature the four-cylinder engine. The 2019 Highlander was available with a four-cylinder engine or a similar V-6.
It is important to note the change in physical size between the 2020 and 2019 models of the Toyota Highlander. The previous version is available with a bit more cargo volume. However, the 2020 Highlander will offer 73.3 cubic-feet of cargo volume, which is still one of the largest in its class. Both versions of the Highlander can have a seven- or eight-passenger seating capacity, depending on which trim is chosen.
