The number one rule for safely driving during the winter is to slow down and take it easy. Study after study has concluded that drivers who use winter tires are better equipped to handle those conditions, and thus are safer on the road. If you’re considering a new set of Toyota snow tires near Westport, CT, the Colonial Toyota Tire Center has everything a vehicle owner could reasonably need. Tires are any vehicle’s first line of defense when it comes to controlling and stopping a vehicle. This is even truer when road conditions are less than ideal. You don’t have to spend another Connecticut winter slipping and sliding around. We have everything you need to stay safe on the road.
Colonial Toyota customers can schedule an appointment with our tire experts today by calling, 203-403-2640.

It would be a mistake to think that tires are just round pieces of rubber. There is a shocking level of chemistry and engineering that goes into making them. Winter or snow tires differ from their summer counterparts in the formula that is used to produce the rubber. Cold temperatures will cause most rubber products to become stiff and unpliable. This is bad for tires. Snow tires stay soft so that the treads can maintain contact with the road. Conversely, this increased contact with the road is what makes snow tires unsuitable for dry pavement driving in the summer. All-season tires are a perfectly workable alternative as well.
Do you have tires for non-Toyota vehicles?
Obviously, our prime focus is on maintaining and repairing Toyota vehicles. But if you aren’t ready to make that change and are driving a vehicle from another automaker, Colonial Toyota can still help. Our tire center has options that will fit on almost any vehicle, for almost any purpose. This includes the aforementioned options for winter/snow tires but also options for trucks and those who like to go off-roading. Make an appointment with us today if you have any questions.
